Union List, State List and Concurrent List of the Indian Constitution

 The subjects included in the Union List, State List and Concurrent List of the Indian Constitution are as follows:


Union List (100 subjects):
- Defence
- Army
- International Relations
- Ports
- Railways
- Highways
- Communication


State List (61 subjects):
- Public order
- Police
- Public health and sanitation
- Hospitals and dispensaries
- Betting and gambling


Concurrent List (52 subjects):
-
Education
- Forest
- Trade unions
- Marriage
- Adoption
- Succession
- Criminal law, including criminal procedure
- Transfer of property other than agricultural land
- Contracts, including partnership and agency
- Actionable wrongs
- Bankruptcy and insolvency


NOTE:Some examples of subjects that have been transferred from the State List to the Concurrent List include:

1. Education (42nd Amendment, 1976)
2. Forests (42nd Amendment, 1976)
3. Wildlife (42nd Amendment, 1976)
4. Trade Unions (43rd Amendment, 1977)
5. Employment and Unemployment (44th Amendment, 1978)
6. Social Security and Social Insurance (44th Amendment, 1978)
7. Environmental Protection (44th Amendment, 1978)
