- Alpha (B.1.1.7): First appeared in Great Britain in November 2020.
- Beta (B.1.351): Identified in South Africa at the end of 2020.
- Gamma (P.1): Emerged in Brazil.
- Delta (B.1.617.2): First identified in India in late 2020.
- Epsilon (B.1.427/B.1.429): Emerged in the U.S. in early 2021.
- Zeta (P.2): Found in Brazil.
- Eta (B.1.525): Emerged in the U.K. and Nigeria in late 2020.
- Theta (P.3): Identified in the Philippines in early 2021.
- Iota (B.1.621): Emerged in the U.S. in July 2021.
- Kappa (B.1.617.1): Found in India in early 2021.
- Lambda (C.37): Emerged in South America in mid-2021.
